Along with the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, the Vélodrome is one of the most emblematic places in the city, but also one of the central characters of the Tapie series. It is there that Olympique de Marseille football club, of which Bernard Tapie is one of the former presidents, has been playing for more than 80 years.

The stadium, built in anticipation of the 1938 World Cup, owes its name to the cycling track which surrounded the field until the businessman decided to redevelop it in1985. Since then, although it has undergone other significant transformations, the stadium has continued to build on its reputation, and can be visited from top to bottom, from the locker rooms to the pitch, including taking in the Olympique de Marseille's most beautiful trophies. A perfect stop to immerse yourself in the legendary history of the only French club to have won a Champions League.

Marseille in the rain? It's hard to believe it, and yet this is how the Pax Massilia series opens. Fortunately, its creator Olivier Marchal ensures the sun soon comes out again, ready for a vigorous game of football on one of the most beautiful pitches in the city: the beaches of Corbières.

To get there, head to the north of Marseille, in the 16th Arrondissement, departing from Côté Bleue. Sheltered from the mistral winds and bathed in an astonishing micro-climate, three beaches await you: the Batterie and the Lave for fine sand, and the Fortin for those who prefer pebbles. Created in the 1970s, these three beaches were intended to allow the inhabitants of the district easy access to the sea, which they had been deprived of since the creation of the port of l'Estaque.

If you decide to visit, don’t miss the magnificent jardin de Corbières, located just nearby, or the famous panisses and chichis frégi pastries of Estaque.

Step 3

Hôtel
Intercontinental

Place Daviel
13002 Marseille

Marseille is football, the Old Port, but also rap, an art-form deeply rooted in the city's culture. It is no coincidence that Nouvelle Ecole called on SCH to scout out the future star of the genre. And in the first episode of the second season, we find him with Alonzo during a business meeting on a terrace of the InterContinental.

The fame of this legendary hotel has literally spanned the centuries, since it dates back to 1593. At the time it was still called Hôtel Dieu, and served as a hospital until 1993. After extensive renovation work, it officially became a five-star hotel in 2013. And even if you don't spend the night there, make sure to not miss its grand staircases listed as Historic Monuments, or the exceptional view offered over the port and the Basilica. Because as the S itself said in Nouvelle Ecole: “No other hotel in Marseille is more of a reflection of the city and its character.”
